We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer to join a highly focused and professional software test team engaged in testing and quality assurance of embedded networking software solutions. Ideal candidates will have a development and test background along with in-depth knowledge of Wireless LAN technology, Ethernet Switching, networking technology and TCP/IP stacks, Linux Systems, and various I/O interfaces. Seeking candidates who are excited about software testing, have development skill for automation, and are enthusiastic about engaging at a deep level with technology.






 






Responsibilities: 






· Participate in test team activities including requirements analysis, test planning, tracking, reporting, and support of test cycles. 






· Engage in test case execution including defect documentation and tracking, resolution support, and fix verification.






· Should be comfortable in configuring the system under test, interoperating switches, routers and access points, understand the details of the interactions between varied devices through packet traces and debug log analysis.






· Implement tools and test automation to increase effectiveness and efficiency






· Work closely with product development teams, including direct and detailed interaction with software development teams. 






· Demonstrated understanding of WLAN technologies, including but not limited to – 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/wave2, frequency of operations, channel modes and bandwidths, WMM, Power Management, Enterprise security, and WiFi Alliance certification programs.






· Develop test scenarios and plans for new features and releases






· Develop test strategies and plans to improve the effectiveness and productivity of the team, including methods, tools and processes.






 






Basic Qualifications:






Typically requires a BS degree and 9 years of experience or an MS degree and 6 years of experience or a PhD and 3 years of experience.






· Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with computer networking hardware and/or software






· Demonstrated experience in a software test environment






· Direct work experience in a software test/development environment, preferably in embedded communications. 






· Experience with one or more languages as applied to test automation development, preferably Python






· Demonstrated experience with system level debugging






· Demonstrated experience working in Linux environment






· Knowledgeable of current industry network equipment testing practices. 






· Demonstrated ability to test at a deep level, and analyze issues found before engaging software development






· Knowledge of high performance processors, system on chip designs, and subsystem software and hardware






· Ability to demonstrate successful problem solving and analysis skills (i.e. determine root cause of performance shortfalls), including analyzing performance bottlenecks of processors and other system hardware blocks






· Ability to work with members from HW and SW engineering teams, architecture and marketing, customer support, as well as external customers






 






Additional Qualifications:






· Knowledge of Wireless LAN (WLAN) technology and related protocols.






· Experience with network test equipment – Protocol Analyzers, Protocol Jammers, Load Generators (Ixia, JDSU, etc), performance tools (IxChariot, iPerf etc)






· Experience with networking infrastructure – Cisco switches/routers, Windows Domain Services and networking, internal workings of mobile devices (iPads, iPhones etc), VOIP controllers and phones






· Experienced in working with different Operating systems and flavors – Windows, OSX, Linux etc






· Excellent written and verbal communication skills






· Ability to apply an innovative approach to solve complex problems. 






· Independent and critical thinker and a self-starter






· C system programming is highly desired
