USF’s Special Events program plans major fundraising galas and various other events throughout the country to raise over $9 million annually, introduce new major donors to our work and draw national media attention to UNICEF.
Report to the Managing Director of Special Events within the Development department, the Manager of Special Events will support the vision and strategies of USF’s national Special Events program to raise significant revenue and establish UNICEF’s mission within the philanthropic community. Please note this is a fundraising position more than a logistical event planning role.
- Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Manage event committee(s), fundraise to reach our revenue goals and work laterally with team members in the national office and five regional offices to successfully produce these special events - Collaborate with USF offices located in Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, DC, San Francisco, and New York to design an event concepts that will appeal to their philanthropic community
- Work closely with the Managing Director of Special Events on event fundraising outreach to individuals and corporations which may include six-figure underwriting and/or sponsorship asks
- Lead event committee development and management
Coordinate on-site fundraising at USF events which may include live and/or silent auctions, raffles and programmatic funding opportunities - Evaluate ROI then manage USF’s involvement in passive beneficiary events
- Maintain expenses within approved budgets for assigned events
- Collaborate with USF departments including the senior management team, regional offices, public relations, communications, corporate partnerships, marketing, finance, and human resources
- Lead/participate in other special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years’ relevant experience
- Experience managing committees and working alongside high profile board membersProven success record in major gift fundraising and event management
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with great attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects and tasks, support a variety of departments, and manage expectations and deadlines
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Ability to travel up to 15% - Self-motivated; can lead projects independently from concept to completion
Must possess a strong work ethic, and be a motivated, enthusiastic team player who embraces the mission of USF - Must demonstrate USF Core Values: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork, and Service
Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
