Within the Department of Global Health, the Senior Specialist, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) will provide technical assistance to Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) and Family Planning programs in Francophone countries and others, as needed. They will assist the startup of new programs focusing on social norm change, contraception and very young adolescents as well as provide technical assistance to ongoing comprehensive ASRH and Family Planning programs. The Senior Specialist, SRH will also play a key role to support to the Technical Advisor, Reproductive Health in advancing our global initiative on very young adolescent (VYA) SRH through strategic planning, evidence generation and dissemination, coordination and advocacy as well as contribute to the Reproductive Health teams growing family planning portfolio. S/he will also work with country offices to deliver, document and disseminate results in an effort to improve knowledge management. As needed, the Senior Specialist will contribute to proposal writing for ASRH and Family Planning.


Background and Experience


MPH, or equivalent experience in public health and Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Family Planning (including contraception for youth, HIV prevention with adolescents, young motherhood programming and Family Planning). * Minimum of six years of experience in international public health programming or related experience * Experience delivering technical assistance to ensure quality programming, especially in developing country settings on SRH for adolescents and youth and Family Planning* Experience in designing or implementing projects with components of Social and Behavior Change * Proven record of establishing criteria for making strategic programming decisions. * Demonstrated ability to develop and apply monitoring and evaluation plans to determine program results and monitor impact. * Strong record of fostering new and effective partnerships, team building and collaborative implementation * Able to develop and oversee implementation of program work plans and coordinate with field staff implementing these plans. * Able to contribute to and potentially play lead role in the development of effective and responsive project proposals and concept notes. * Excellent communication skills, creative thinker and ability to work in a highly changing environment and with teams spread out across the globe


Requirements

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team situation, and in cross-cultural settings. * Proficient in English, and proven ability to work in French is mandatory * Creative leadership and “self-starter”; independent worker with the ability to draw in team members in a timely fashion * Strategic thinker; identifies and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders internally, cross functionally and externally. * Able to manage several simultaneous tasks and projects. * Establishes course of action for self and ensures work is completed in an organized, efficient and effective manner.
