This position has promotion potential to GS-06. Promotion Potential: There is no obligation to provide future promotions to you if you are selected. DUTIES
Additional Duty Location Info: FEW vacancies – Birmingham, AL
Receive and answer telephone and personal inquiries concerning laws administered by the District Office. Receive, develop, and process oral and written complaints recommending investigations where warranted. Accompany investigators to assist in examining and transcribing records, taking interviews, making back wage computations during investigations plus utilizing conciliatory techniques to settle employee complaints. Screen incoming correspondence from public and other governmental agencies and composes sound replies. Participate in procedural reviews of investigation case files and disbursement of back wages. Maintain and follow up on back wage payment agreements and installments. Utilize a personal computer to prepare correspondence, transmit and receive information and maintain database. QUALIFICATIONS AND EVALUATIONS
Qualifications Required: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 in federal service; or successfully completed 4 years above high school. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04).
Examples of specialized experience include providing support to Compliance Officers in a regulatory environment which required an understanding of the program; providing technical information to the public; reviewing documents for conformance with policy and regulatory requirements; and performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties.
Proficiency Requirement: Typing Proficiency : Applicants must document their ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
There is no substitution of education for the required Specialized Experience.
