A Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the quality assurance of embedded networking software.
The Engineer is expected to have knowledge of the internal operation of Ethernet switching and/or TCP/IP, as well as L2/L3 protocol knowledge.
The Engineer needs to be able to setup and configure test environments, configure interoperating switches and routers, understand the details of the various network devices’ interaction while protocols operate, obtain and analyze packet traces, and be able to determine whether the test case criteria are met.
The Engineer will work with various types of traffic generators to conduct manual/automated traffic testing on device(s) under test.
Additionally the Engineer is required to put together detailed test plans, work closely with the Manager of QA and SDK Development teams.
The Engineer is expected to own qualification of a portion of a given program/module, work with other engineers on the program.
Requirements:
* Total engineering minimum experience required is typically a BSCS/EE degree and 9 years of experience, an MSCS/EE degree and 6 years of experience, or a PhD CS/EEand 3 years of experience
* Highly motivated self-starter; ability to use own initiative, drive decisions and create direction.
* Popular L2/Ethernet Switching, L3 (TCP/IP) and routing protocol experience.
* Utilize traffic generation tools such as IXIA or Spirent.
* Desired TCL, Perl or any scripting languages for functional/automated testing
* Must possess C or C++programming/debugging skills
* Object-oriented programming skills are highly desirable
* Direct experience of working in a software test environment within embedded communications.
* Proven track-record as a networking product tester in a system environment
* Experience with testing design of complex software features.
