Service Aide ( 2 HOURLY Positions Available) job - New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation - New York, NY

Cleans, maintains and/or sterilizes assigned areas of the facility by emptying wastebaskets, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming and washing/mopping floors, walls, ceiling, window sills, venetian blinds, furniture, and medical equipment with appropriate cleaning equipment, solutions and disinfectants; bags soiled linen Clean mirrors and scour and disinfect toilets, sinks, tubs and showers using appropriate cleaning equipment, solutions and disinfectants Polish metal; maintain floors by stripping, waxing and polishing utilizing appropriate cleaning equipment Collect, empty, transport and/or dispose of debris and garbage in designated containers, reline waste containers with appropriate liner(s) and transport infectious waste material to designated areas Assist in loading and unloading trucks and filling stock requirements; transport household supplies and equipment; assist supervisor in such tasks as distributing cleaning supplies Move furniture and equipment, assist in the make-up and break down of beds including their proper storage Maintain control over tools and equipment; keep mechanical equipment in proper running order Minimum Qualifications Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions. Department Preferences Two years of full-time paid experience in the performance of housekeeping activities for a large organization, such as a hospital, hotel, office or residential building cleaning service organization, or a satisfactory equivalent preferred. High School diploma or GED preferred.
