Essential Job Functions
- Serves as lead staff for all M/WBE matters related to the City procurement process, including: preparing/approving M/WBE language in requests for qualifications, requests for proposals, and bid solicitations; presenting M/WBE program requirements at pre-bid, pre-proposal and pre-construction meetings; establishing M/WBE goals for City projects, evaluating and scoring proposed compliance plans and M/WBE participation goals submitted by prime companies.
- Develops and maintains a database of information on all City-certified minority/women owned businesses (M/WBEs) within the Savannah area.
- Develops, provides and promotes technical assistance, training, business opportunities, and bidding opportunities within the City that are open to minority/women businesses.
- Disseminates plans and specifications for upcoming contracts; provides technical support and assistance to businesses in preparing bids and maintaining contracts.
- Facilitates workshops and training activities to ensure minority/women owned businesses develop the necessary skills and abilities to be successful.
- Facilitates activities to link minority/women owned businesses with agencies, governmental organizations, contractors, subcontractors, and other businesses to increase access to procurement/contracting opportunities.
- Reviews applications for certification and supporting documentation; conducts interviews and undertakes other investigatory activities to determine business ownership and approval of business certification as minority/women enterprises (M/WBE).
- Regularly updates and maintains appropriate website information and mailing/contact lists to support minority/women business enterprises and disseminate information.
- Assesses the City’s progress increasing procurement/contracting opportunities for the services of minority/women owned businesses.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports for internal and external purposes.
- Coordinates public, contractor, subcontractor, agency and inter-department meetings and activities related to the Minority/Women Business Enterprise Program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Urban Studies (Master’s Degree preferred); with two years of professional work experience in procurement and/or business services to assist minority/women business enterprise; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Work Location: 801 E. Gwinnett St. ; Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
