We are a dynamic team based in Washington, DC and around the world. We are adept at operating in a diffuse, resource constrained environment to apply clear-eyed and modern business and marketing approaches that generate real improvements in the lives of those we serve. We add value through building and supporting new business models and marketing approaches and tools that take our developing country operations to the next level.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with strong analytical and communication skills to join our growing Market Dynamics team within the Global Marketing department. Market Dynamics is an emerging field in global development that uses a multi-disciplinary approach to understand the forces that affect supply and demand of products and services within health area markets. This individual will be responsible for guiding PSI"s application of this new approach. Building our capacity to understand the total market systems, address market failures and design interventions that result in sustainable health outcomes at scale.
Position Responsibilities & Overview

The ideal candidate will have a passion for global health and development, possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and drive high-quality work independently. Collaborating closely with other members of the Global Marketing team, the Market Dynamics Advisor will engage diverse stakeholders, including private sector, governments, multilaterals, healthcare providers, and beneficiaries to understand health markets and identify incentives and barriers to improve market performance. The Advisor must be able to interpret and synthesize complex and technical inputs to provide a deep understanding and robust evidence base to inform market strategy recommendations. The Advisor will play an important role in building PSI staff capacity in these skills across our global network.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop a detailed understanding of the demand and supply markets for health care products and services by collecting and examining market intelligence along the value chain from manufacturers to consumers to understand market failures, their causes and identify efficiency optimization opportunities in the market.

  • Develop new and enhance existing processes and tools within PSI to better understand health markets and provide technical assistance and capacity building support to global and local teams to implement the processes and tools within the organization.

  • Invest in existing and identify new partnership opportunities for PSI with other organizations and institutions working in market landscaping, market analysis, health economics and market development.

  • Provide ongoing support to project teams across technical areas within PSI to identify and manage consultancies that complement skill sets within the organization and use these consultancies to enhance existing processes and tools within the organization.

  • Build on PSI"s Market Development Approach and invest in capacity building within the organization to improve data collection and analysis to understand market systems and use findings to influence program design and interventions.

  • Work with technical and program teams to understand the capacity, barriers and incentives across market players and use this information to develop go-to-market strategies for existing and new products and services.

  • Work in close collaboration with Program Analytics and other Research departments within the organization to develop tools and approaches to estimate potential market size, demand forecasting as well as demand and supply-side issues across the value chain.

  • Cultivate, build and maintain relationships with key global health actors to support market insights and guidance on market opportunities

  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other analyses to inform strategy and policy recommendations, as well as increase the evidence base for high-impact interventions

  • Support the Global Marketing Director to ensure increased engagement with donors and stakeholders in sharing and learning from new Market Dynamics approaches and highlight PSI"s programs and achievements.

Job Requirements


Qualifications


  • A Master"s degree (e.g. MBA, MPA, MPH) or higher in relevant subject area with 3-5 years experience in public health or management consulting and/or experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.

  • Experience in market dynamics, industrial and health economics, business model development

  • Ability to conduct market assessments and analysis, including market landscape research and market sizing activities

  • Strong data management, quantitative modeling and analysis skills

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including ability to prepare compelling presentations and written reports and work effectively in multi-cultural environments

  • Experience designing, conducting/managing quantitative primary and secondary research skills, data collection and data entry

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Ability to build capacity of individuals and teams at various levels within the organization.

  • Developing country experience

  • Availability for international and domestic travel (estimated at 30%).
