Officer, Southeast Region
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is based in NY and operates nine regional offices throughout the country. Each regional office is primarily focused on managing a regional board and building long-term partnerships with high level donors through personal relationships, special events, and opportunities to be engaged strategically with UNICEF’s work. In addition, regional offices support other revenue streams (including corporate, foundations, and planned giving) as appropriate, and also support awareness-building activities in the region. The Southeast Regional Office is based in Atlanta, and we also work with about 400 donors in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Southeast Region, the Officer will serve as a critical contributor in leading the Southeast Regional Office to fundraising success by working to ensure the success of our annual fundraising event (UNICEF’s Evening for Children First) and smaller cultivation events throughout the year, supporting major gift fundraising work and carrying a small portfolio of donors, managing interns and volunteers, and providing office management and administrative support for the office.
Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Fundraising – Special Events
- Oversee the Southeast Regional Events portfolio, including annual fundraiser with $500K+ revenue goal (high profile annual event), Speaker Series, and smaller cultivation events
- Provide strategic direction to event portfolio
- Lead logistics for Southeast Regional signature annual event, UNICEF’s Evening for Children First and all other events including (but not limited to):
- Managing event timeline, and insuring all deadlines are met
- Contracting with vendors
- Preparing and sending out invitations and other correspondence
- Working with vendor and Marketing/Communications team to produce high quality event collateral (invitations, website, program, etc.)
- Preparing internal and external briefings and reports
- Managing the budget for the event
- Managing all internal documentation related to event (RSVP lists, sponsor lists)
- Promoting the event, with the support of the USF PR team
- Recruiting and leading volunteer efforts for event
- Oversee general production of event
- Researching guests and sponsor prospects
- Support for event fundraising activities
- Provide high levels of customer service and create excellent guest experience for all events from start to finish
- Liaise with the special events team in New York on all aspects of the event
- Support recruitment and management of event committees
- Other duties as assigned
Portfolio Management
- Manage, cultivate, and steward a small portfolio of event-related donors
Office Management and Administration
- Provide back office support to ensure accurate financial records, compliance with company policies and procedures, and the smooth functioning of the office generally
- Facilitate team productivity and efficiency through management of office space and equipment
- Recruit, engage, manage and evaluate interns and administrative volunteers
Support for Major Gift Fundraising
- Support the Southeast Major Gifts annual revenue goal through prospect research and list management, including creating and maintaining a prospect matrix and coordinating outreach with volunteers and staff
- Maintain donor records in USF database and other formats, as necessary
- Lead donor stewardship strategy for Southeast team, including maintaining SE Regional Web page, coordinating personal thank you calls from volunteers, creating and purchasing donor gifts and recognition, and other activities
- Organize the Regional Board and committee meetings, including preparing Board Packet and taking minutes.
Intern and Volunteer Management
- Manage all aspects of Southeast Regional Internship and Volunteer programs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years event and/or fundraising experience
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work in diverse teams, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, time-management, and oral and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail, flexibility in high-pressure situations, and the willingness to assist with all tasks needed to ensure the success of small team
- Willingness to take initiative to propose new solutions and identify new opportunities
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with databases, CRM and SharePoint a plus
- Knowledge of Atlanta philanthropic community
