Summary : Under general supervision, assists in Family Court operations, performing a variety of duties in support of effective and efficient court operation, and ensures compliance with all local, state and federal reporting requirements. Reports to the Chief Deputy Clerk of Court.
Qualifications : Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication, personal and telephone skills, and problem solving skills. Required to have and maintain a clear background check, credit check, and pass a drug screening. Must be dependable and prompt, and be efficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, Excel, as well as other office machine products.
Responsibilities : Performs functions relative to general office functions of the Kershaw County Clerk of Court, to include general bookkeeping duties; daily and monthly as assigned, including but not limited to processing accounts receivable and/or payable. Performs routine clerical duties as required, including but not limited to copying and filing documents, process court orders, retrieving files, sending and receiving faxes and e-mails, assembling and collating documents, processing daily mail. Receives and receipts child support and alimony payments and various other court fees and fines received through the mail and at payment window; posts payments to proper accounts; balances cash drawers; prepares bank deposits, and performs other bookkeeping duties as necessary. Initiates collection of child support/alimony payments due. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the supervisor, co-workers, other County staff, attorneys, court personnel, SCDSS personnel, law enforcement personnel, defendants, and the general public. Answers the telephone; provides accurate information and assistance to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate personnel; takes messages as necessary; greets and assists public at the window.
