The Shipper Packer prepares files for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of files to be packed, the type of container used, and the method of shipment.

Closing and/or sealing package/box

Organizes and consolidates files

Replaces and organizes files on shelves
Delivers and picks up interoffice and outgoing mail and files from USCIS work areas
Adheres to all contract policies and procedures
Skills and Abilities Required
Knowledge of:
Administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
Methods and techniques of document indexing and coding including alphabetical and numerical filing methods.
Various software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, database and database management.
Principles and practices of data collection and report preparation.
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the customer, in person and over the telephone.
Ability to:
To apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Analyze problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to regularly lift boxes weighing at least 40 pounds, climb up and down ladders, bend and twist boxes that could weigh at least 40 pounds. May stand and walk continuously over an extended period of time. The employee is regularly required to reach overhead, with hands and arms and may be subject to minor paper cuts from handling documents and files. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Work is performed in a production-driven office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities.
Minimum Education and Experience Required
High School diploma or equivalent with at least six months of full time experience required. Must be able to pass the requisite background investigation.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Operations Supervisor. Exercises no direct supervision over staff. May provide technical and functional direction to other administrative support staff.
