Job Summary
  • The Office Secretary / Receptionist will provide general clerical support to the respective medical office. All duties of the Office Secretary / Receptionist will be performed within the framework of established operational policies and procedures. The Office Secretary / Receptionist will work collaboratively with the supervising Physician, as well as any clinical support staff within the medical office to ensure effective operations.

  • Job Specifications
    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Previous medical office management and / or clinical experience preferred.



    • JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of the following: computers and medical terminology; all technical equipment used; operational / business and clinical practices commonly incorporated into the day-to-day operations of a medical practice; office policies and procedures; the patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.



    • ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
      • Must have the ability to express thoughts in clear and concise terms, both verbal and written.

      • Must be computer literate and keyboard proficient.

      • Must have the ability to adapt and prioritize during high volume periods.

      • Must have the ability to operate a multiple line telephone system.

      • Must have the ability to keep financial records and perform mathematical tasks.

      • Must have the ability and dexterity to operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.

      • Must have the ability to work with individuals of all ages (infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) as well as the mentally and physically challenged.

      • Must be interested in self-motivation and self-improvement.

      • Must be interested in all aspects of maintaining a general business office setting.

      • Must be interested in clinical aspects of performance in a medical office setting.

      • Must be able to use tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with employees, supervisors, doctors, patients, insurance companies, and the general public.

      • Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
