Position Summary:
MSI seeks a passionate and creative producer to manage MSI’s digital platforms to highlight our great work around the world. Our ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, innovative, and can navigate through technical data and a staff of hundreds to extract great nuggets of digital content. This person has a true passion for digital media in all of its forms – web-based, social media, interactive design, video production, graphic design, etc. Strong writing skills are also important as it plays a role in nearly all of our content. Most importantly, s/he should be able to work within a collaborative team setting and approach new and existing projects proactively.
This is an excellent opportunity for a digital communications professional with an interest in international development and affairs to dive into digital media promoting MSI’s international work. This position will require the ability to work in every aspect of content generation, from inception and creation to completion. Applicants must be based in the DC area or willing to relocate; relocation package not offered for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, create, and manage multi-platform digital products for both internal staff and external audiences.
- Write and edit marketing materials and other external communications products, including web content, brochures and articles.
- Propose, manage, and execute social media strategies, ideas and content in line with business development goals and strategies.
- Work with MSI technical experts to create visual materials that translate complex work into digestible content.
- Design, update and manage website content as needed.
- Research and test best practices and new multimedia/social media platforms and trends.
- Track, test and measure content to determine effectiveness, reach and success across website and social media platforms.
- Collaborate with other departments/ projects and oversee project teams.
- Train MSI and project staff on messaging and correct branding practices that help clients’ branding become more streamlined.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience; or master’s degree related to digital media production or communications.
- Demonstrated experience creating digital content/campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience writing and editing strong copy.
- In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, most importantly: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Premiere.
- Expert in creating and analyzing social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Hootsuite, Klout, Thinglink, Soundcloud, Youtube and more.
- Understand branding and have the ability to apply a brand consistently across communication products.
- Creative thinker and content creator that can simplify jargon or technical information into more digestible and interesting stories; comprehension of readability metrics is a plus.
- Ability to harness new and existing digital platforms with ease to tell our story effectively.
- Ability to manage website CMS, such as WordPress. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Firm understanding of SEO best practices
- Interactive or educational digital design experience, such as Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline is preferred.
- Advanced HTML, CSS, Java, or app design experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of international development; familiarity with USAID, State Department, and other international donors is preferred.
- Advanced graphic design and/or video production skills is desired.
