JOB DESCRIPTION


Assumes a senior role in the planning, development, and implementation of various aspects of a complex global program. Serves as a liaison and key spokesperson to various committees and organizations. Leads policy formulation, strategy development, and management of daily operations. Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies to design, implement and/or evaluate program-related projects and strategies that effectively address the public needs associated with the program. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and writes publishable articles and papers. May write grant proposals, and prepare/present associated reports to funding organizations and to clients. May engage in fundraising initiatives on behalf of the program. May oversee the annual budget and other financial aspects of the program. May supervise staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.


Program Support


  • Lead the epidemiology/data team which manages the cloud-based GET 2020 Database, which may include but is not limited to reviewing and cleaning data; formatting and uploading data; testing source linkages; and working with developers to modify the database as required.

  • Lead analyses of existing data to track and report on program impact.

  • Review and provide technical input into survey methodologies used by countries.

  • Contribute to the development of new standard methodologies for use in the Global Programme.

  • Conduct field epidemiology training for country programs, which may include training related to conducting coverage surveys or impact assessments.

  • Maintain compliance with training ITI staff on ITI’s role in the reporting of Serious Adverse Events (SAEs), product labeling, and at-risk scenarios associated with Zithromax® distribution.

  • Manage the final year of the current Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant.

  • Primary responsibility for the development and writing of future operational research grants.

Communications and Knowledge Management


  • Apply research findings to get results into practice in the Global Programme.

  • Lead the epidemiology/data team, consultants, and students in primary research activities using existing and primary field data, and write publishable articles on key topics of importance to the Global Programme.

  • Represent ITI in partnerships with research institutions to generate new knowledge of relevance to the Global Programme.

  • Contribute data to support the development of communications materials and Global Programme reports.

  • Support operational research in ITI-supported program countries, including conducting training and super-vising field work.

  • Represent ITI at trainings and workshops through active participation, undertaking domestic and international travel.

Donor and Partner Management


  • Support the development and strengthening of partner relationships, including active participation in working groups of the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC).

  • Support the data collection and analysis for the ICTC.

  • Manage and analyze data for key partners, including the World Health Organization.

  • Interface with partners, including WHO, ICTC, and RTI, to discuss program issues related to data sharing and database linkages.

Other duties


  • Perform other ITI program-related duties as required.

  • Participate fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing to, assisting and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested.

TRAVEL:Domestic and international travel required (25-40%)


QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum:


  • Master"s degree in a field related to the program

  • Seven years of professional experience related to the program

  • Previous supervisory and program/project management experience

Preferred:


  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a field related to the program

  • 5-7 years of experience in international programs

  • Work experience in a developing country

  • Proven record of scientific presentations and publications

  • Demonstrated experience with biostatistical methods

  • Demonstrated experience training field teams in a multicultural setting

  • Demonstrated experience applying research findings to program implementation

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: STATA; SAS; SPSS; ARC GIS; cloud-based data systems

  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills

  • Proficiency in an additional language, including: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, or Amharic

  • Ability to undertake domestic and international travel (25-40%)
