PSI seeks a Program Coordinator to support program management functions in the West and Central Africa department. The Program Coordinator will have wide ranging responsibilities and work with PSI staff at all levels both in Washington and overseas. The position requires flexibility and willingness to assume varied duties and projects with an emphasis on administrative tasks, but with room for growth as WCA is committed to finding and retaining talented staff. This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Program Manager for West and Central Africa.
RESPONSIBILITIES:The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing programmatic and administrative support to assigned country offices and to the staff of the West and Central Africa (WCA) department, ensuring smooth and timely flow of work. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Serving as a liaison between assigned country offices, the WCA department, and PSI/Washington technical and functional departments;

  • Communicating with field offices, responding to internal and external requests for information;

  • Coordinating with contracts department to track/respond to contracts issues;

  • Reviewing and editing donor narrative reports;

  • Assisting with the proposal development process (budget development, and overall coordination of proposal submission) and the updating and realignment of donor budgets as necessary;

  • Preparing monthly financial status report reviews (“ASR review”) including Program Income tracking;

  • Reviewing procurement requests and monitor procurement pipelines;

  • Providing overall support on program quality monitoring, including program workplans and tracking quality standards;

  • Reviewing and processing vendor and consultant invoices;

  • Assisting with travel arrangements ;

  • Developing and maintaining databases, electronic and hard copy files as needed of relevant programmatic information;

  • Fulfilling other programmatic and administrative functions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least two years experience working in a fast paced office environment;

  • Experience living outside the United States and in multicultural environments preferred (with priority given to experience in West and Central Africa);

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint);

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with special attention to detail and timeliness;

  • Strong quantitative skills, with particular emphasis on working with budgets and spreadsheets;

  • Proven ability to develop routines to manage large workloads and organize work efficiently;

  • Strong writing skills;

  • Fluency in English and high level proficiency in French;

  • Readiness to interact with a variety of people and assume diverse duties and tasks.

    Successful candidates will be customer service oriented, exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills; have proven problem solving ability; be able to work efficiently and quickly under pressure; be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks; and have the ability to work with minimal supervision and follow through on assignments. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in international health and development issues.
