Disability Services of the Southwest is seeking an Administrative Assistant for our Waco branch!
What we do: DSSW is one of the largest providers of support services to people with disabilities and the elderly in the State of Texas. Our services include personal attendant services, nursing and therapies, as well as assistance in home modifications, adaptive aids, job coaching and supported employment. The Administrative Assistance performs clerical duties requiring general office experience, skill, and knowledge of organizational policies and practices.
**Please note: To meet Federal guidelines for the CLASS program that our agency administers, you MUST also have 6 months paid/volunteer/personal HANDS-ON experience assisting people with disabilities with their activities of daily living. This includes bathing, grooming, feeding, cooking, etc. This must be visible on your resume in order for your resume to be considered. Describing your experience in your cover letter will also be accepted.
TASKS:


  • Complete weekly billing functions (data entry) for attendant services

  • Prepare correspondence, memoranda, reports, reviews attendant time sheets for errors.

  • Answer and relay phone calls and take messages

  • Assure documentation is in order for accurate/prompt billing.

  • Order all supplies for the office.

  • Ensure medical records are current and complete.

  • Travel required for community activity as needed.

  • Observe confidentiality policies at all times.

  • SKILLS:

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills and ability to communicate effectively to health care professionals, clients, families, and the general public.

EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION:


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Six (6) months paid or volunteer experience working with people with disabilities.

  • Two (2) years clerical experience in an office setting.

  • Must be competent in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Must be able to quickly learn agency specific software.

  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto liability coverage.
