Prepares outgoing mail for dispatching including sealing, metering, bundling, and traying material according to US Postal Service regulations.
Receives, sorts, and routes mail to personnel throughout the agency and supported units.
Maintains files and records in accordance with established procedures/regulations. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: One year of general experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Two years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
Background or Security Investigation: This is a non-critical sensitive position requiring a secret clearance . Employment in this position requires a background investigation which may delay your starting date. Position requires a physical exam: Work involves considerable walking with pushing and pulling of delivery carts. Continually handles mail bags and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds when processing incoming and outgoing mail. Work requires the equipment operator to stand for extended periods of time during machine operation and mail sorting operations. Safety precautions are mandatory especially when operating machinery, lifting, and manually pushing mail carts or operating electrically powered vehicles through narrow halls and corridors to avoid injury to the operator and to other personnel. All applicants must meet the physical standards for the position. HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
