Managing Director, Multicultural Partnerships


Reporting to the Vice President of Global Cause Partnerships, the Managing Director of Multicultural Partnerships will play a leadership role in the development and implementation of strategies for significant partnerships with diaspora groups in the United States, with initial focus on the African American community. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF recognizes the different cultural approaches to philanthropy and will develop strategies to help build long-lasting and trusting relationships with affinity donor groups. This includes plans for fundraising, advocacy and engagement across key constituencies, such as faith denominations; fraternal, professional and service organizations and other key constituents identified in the strategy.


Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):


  • Develop a fundraising strategy for cultural affinity groups, starting with the African American community; the strategy will grow to include the Latino and Asian American communities.

  • Through strategy development, set and achieve organizational goals for revenue and engagement, and ensure organization-wide knowledge.

  • Spearhead the cultivation, management and growth of key relationships with partners interested in supporting UNICEF’s work in child survival and development, including health, education, child protection, HIV/AIDS, water and sanitation, and children’s rights. Identify and pursue prospective partners.

  • Identify diaspora/affinity groups in the U.S. that have significant potential for partnership and develop replicable models for engagement that can be applied to other key affinity groups in the U.S.

  • Represent USF with senior leadership of partner organizations and at major events. To include regular public speaking.

  • Work with the Chief Operations Officer, Senior Vice President and Vice President to achieve organizational objectives of the strategy. Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure cross divisional execution. Leverage Global Citizenship Fellows across the country.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • A minimum of ten years relevant experience in relationship/account management. Demonstrated track record of successfully achieving fundraising and engagement goals.

  • Understanding of civil society organizations and faith-based communities particularly in the African American community; knowledge of international development issues/language and international/domestic grant experience a plus.

  • Ability to contribute to proposals, reports, research and presentations that are client-ready and reflect analytical thinking, creativity and a clear understanding of both the prospective partner’s requirements and USF’s programs and assets.

  • Strong presentation and networking skills with a track record of building mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to prioritize, work independently, handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously, generate pragmatic solutions to address potential roadblocks as well as leverage key opportunities.

  • Ability to navigate complex environments; help build relationships with a variety of different institutions.

  • Strong “client service” orientation and interpersonal as well as negotiation skills, public-speaking experience, quantitative and analytical skills, and written/verbal communication skills.
