Responsibilities
The incumbent will teach courses in Modern Hebrew over two semesters at the introductory level and, as needed, at the intermediate level. The incumbent may also teach a course in Jewish cultural studies. As Faculty-in-Residence in Hebrew Heritage House, a residence hall which houses approximately 28 students, s/he will design and carry out successful programs for residents and the campus community at large for the purpose of supporting the acquisition of Modern Hebrew language, the understanding of Jewish experience, and the varieties of Jewish expression through art, music, philosophy and literature. S/he will work with the Jewish Studies faculty to build a community for Hebrew learners. The incumbent is required to live at Hebrew Heritage House while the College is in session (September through May) and to dine with students in the program. Responsibilities also include supervising the student Program Director by providing direction, support, mentorship and constructive feedback.

Required Qualifications
Required educational and experiential qualifications include native or near-native proficiency in Modern Hebrew, a broad familiarity with Jewish cultures, and the M.A. degree or above in Modern Hebrew or related fields in hand or expected by August 2016. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate language instruction. Successful teaching at the college level is desirable.

Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
