The Office Assistant will perform clerical services necessary to complete efficient patient processing for all payor classes and all related clerical support issues.
Responsibilities
– Performs job while upholding and maintaining policies and procedures that accompany IDX System usage.
– Answers all telephone calls, transfers calls to appropriate person, distributes messages and schedules patient appointments.
– Greets visitors in a friendly, helpful, cooperative and responsive manner.
– Maintains appropriate files assuring security, confidentiality, timely location of such materials, and assures accuracy of patient and insurance information.
– Checks patients in and out utilizing accurate procedure and diagnosis coding and performs data input accurately.
– Performs cashier duties to include recording transactions and assuring accuracy of financial receipts, following policies and procedures.
– Coordinates the processing of managed care patients to include patient referrals in precertification and the processing of paperwork related to the management of the patient¿s care, ensuring that continuity and quality of patient care is maintained.
– Demonstrates Hamot’s commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
Basic Qualifications
– High school graduate or equivalent with one year of experience in a similar position or a graduate of a medical office certificate program.
– Ability to demonstrate 5000 keystrokes. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is preferred.
