We are currently facing humanitarian needs on a massive scale. In our rapidly changing world, we must continually seek better ways to meet the needs of millions of people affected by conflicts and disasters.


An initiative of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, managed by UN OCHA, the first World Humanitarian Summit will bring together governments, humanitarian organizations, people affected by humanitarian crises and new partners including the private sector to propose solutions to our most pressing challenges and set an agenda to keep humanitarian action fit for the future.


The World Humanitarian Summit secretariat is looking for a dynamic and independent graphic design intern to support our communications team for the summer. We are looking for candidates who have graphic design experience and are looking to grow these skills in a professional environment. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, be able to meet deadlines, and have an eye for design. Candidates must be willing to commit to a minimum of 1.5 days/week.


The graphic design intern will assist the communications team in developing a broad range of communications materials for print and digital media, while gaining a once-in-a-lifetime experience to work at United Nations Headquarters.


Qualifications: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with HTML, PHP and email marketing would be a plus.


To qualify for an internship with the United Nations, candidates must:


  • Be currently enrolled in an academic programme of study;

  • Have a valid visa for their stay in the US;

  • Have valid medical insurance.

    We regret that there is no possibility of remuneration for this internship, nor can travel costs or accommodation in New York be covered.

The desired start date is immediate. The end date can be negotiated according to the candidate"s academic schedule.
