Country: United States of America
Closing date: 15 Jun 2015
Background & Rationale:
The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) programme has been in existence for 20 years. This report (*MICS at 20*) highlights the MICS contribution to monitoring major development goals at sub-national, national, regional and global levels while also providing a timeline of key events that define the continuous development of the survey programme. Key events include technical developments (e.g. MICS tools) as well as the organizational and political contexts which influenced the development of MICS in the past and will shape its future. Narratives and data presented will emphasize the leading role that MICS and UNICEF have played in monitoring the MDGs and other goals, and the continuing role of MICS as a high-quality and globally recognized means to monitor future goals such as the SDGs. Furthermore, the report positions UNICEF as a knowledge leader on data for children and women with expertise and experience in data collection. It also highlights the key role UNICEF plays in convening partners and defining the agenda and operationalization of post-MDG monitoring activities.
MICS at 20 summarizes the history of MICS, presents its main achievements in the monitoring field and outlines its future role. The narratives of the report will be compiled in a Word document. Tables, graphs, charts and maps will be provided in separate annexed files.
