It"s your job to choose the great challenges that we should focus on addressing, and design solutions. To make breakthroughs that will reshape the way aid is delivered, not just within IRC, but across the industry and improve the lives of millions of the most disadvantaged people in places affected by war and disaster.
You"re role will be to shape a new team within IRC that will be responsible for designing interventions and delivery models that reach more people and make a bigger difference to their lives. You will have expertise in innovation methods – in particular, designing programs based on understanding how clients behave, and rapid prototyping – and a passion for applying your knowledge to improve services in places experiencing conflict and disaster.
Your initial focus will be to pilot ways of designing and testing programs that draw on the best innovation methods within and beyond humanitarian and development practice. Based on this, you will develop an IRC method and process for innovation, and begin work on developing a pipeline of innovation projects. You"ll help us build a world-class network of supporters and experts and be part of a team that will raise funding for projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and prioritizes pipeline of projects based on R&D criteria, including through internal and external idea generation and evaluation of external environment;
- Manages R&D projects from envisioning to planning to completion by engaging internal and external stakeholders; translating vision into proofs of concepts, project estimation and execution plans
- Develops and executes on learning and measurement plans together with research and measurement team; monitors overall project performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within resources) adjusts as needed.
- Manages the work of cross-functional project teams throughout the solution development by working with individual project leadership to raise and manage project resources for alignment of team member skills with project demands; communicating a clear vision of project objectives to the team; coordinating team activities to ensure project milestones are achieved; providing performance feedback to team members
- Develops high-impact partnerships for solution development; represents the R&D team and approach externally
- Defines and establishes methods together with the research and measurement team for measuring impact and quantifying success (or failure);
- Gains a deep understanding of client/beneficiary experience, identifies ways to improve solutions through understanding user experience
- Drives and evaluates launches and disseminating learning, working with communications, advocacy and technical team
Job Profile
We are looking for people with the following skills and experience:
- 5+ years of experience, ideally with private sector or social innovation experience
- MBA or related degree
- Passion for developing solutions in the world"s most challenging places experiencing conflict or disaster and stamina for the task at hand
- Proven track record in product management or using design or innovation methods
- Superb analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to lead and bring coherence to a diverse team to solve complex problems
- Impressive communication, interpersonal and networking skills
Preferred Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of French or Arabic
- Project management qualification
Working Environment:
- Standard office work environment
- Preference for NY but negotiable
- Up to 40% travel as needed
