CPS Energy currently has multiple openings for Cable Splicer Trainees!
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting Journeyman Cablesplicers in working with high/low Alternating Current (AC) power circuits and mechanics
- Assisting Journeyman Cablesplicers with the construction and maintenance of underground distribution equipment and system components, and
- Working in and/or around steel structures, below ground vaults/manholes (confined spaces), transformers, distribution circuits, and pad-mounted switchgear (often under energized conditions).

The following qualifications are required for the position:
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Must be able to climb distribution poles
- Ability to use hand tool and power tools
- Ability to lift/move heavy objects up to 100 pounds
- Ability to drive various size company vehicles (bucket trucks, construction vans, etc.)
- Ability to perform basic mathematics and measurement functions
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions
- Good oral communications skills
- Ability to successfully complete training classes (to include pole climbing certification and electrical courses)
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 90 days from hire date
- Must be able to work overtime, call duty, and shift work when necessary
The following qualifications are preferred but not required for the position:
- General knowledge of basic electricity
- Knowledge of CPS job sketches and map symbology
- Previous electrical and/or construction work experience
- Knowledge of the CPS Distribution System and associated components

Pay: 18.41 per hour, non-negotiable
