United States of America: Finance and accounting associate


Chemonics seeks an associate to join our Finance and Administration Division (F&A). The ideal candidate will have a background in processing accounts payable, processing payroll, field accounting support, cash management, or reconciliation of transactions to have the capability to support one of the teams in the division. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.


Responsibilities include:
• Ensure all processes are executed in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and government regulations (i.e. USAID, FAR, and other federal, state, and local regulations) and performs day-to-day activities consistent with understanding Chemonics basic requirements, standard operating procedures, resources, tools and quality standards
• Assist in responding appropriately and quickly to requests for support from internal and external clients
• Perform work consistent with a department’s scope Support responses to corporate and project-level audits, including retrieval and analysis of transaction details and associated backup
• Depending on assigned team, perform duties that may include:
o Perform monthly reconciliation of transactions and Chemonics general ledger and/or bank accounts
o Process accounts payable
o Perform payroll operations and process assigned payrolls
o Prepare and review monthly reports, analyze and reconcile data discrepancies between ADP, TimeSite, Solomon and other accounting software
o Support field office operations, including review and approve wire transfers, review and upload monthly foreign office accounting data, prepare standard exchange rates and activate Personal Identification Numbers
o Assist with issuing checks of payment for processed transactions, log payments, distribute and/or mail checks to appropriate individual/vendor
o Prepare and submit deposit, ACH, wire transfers and foreign draft requests to the bank


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• Minimum one year of experience in account reconciliations, accounts payable, field accounting, cost and pricing, treasury operations, financial management, or cash management
• Experience with Solomon VI and demonstrated ability to learn and operate new systems within a short period of time
• U.S. government contracting experience and familiarity preferred
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
• Strong knowledge of MS Office applications
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational and work prioritization skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
• Foreign language fluency preferred
