Under the supervision of the Program Manager/Site Coordinator, the Data Coordinator will ensure the timely collection and reporting of accurate and complete study data for an HIV Prevention Trials Network study. S(he) will be responsible for the timely submission of study data to the network’s statistical and data management center, and will respond to all data queries in a timely manner. S(he) will coordinate in the design of quality assurance/quality management plans and implement an integrated process for ensuring the quality of data in compliance with the study protocol and study specific procedures.
This position is grant funded.

Major Accountabilities
- Conduct all research activities in accordance with study protocol, standard operating procedures and other appropriate institutional regulations, procedures, and policies, including procedures to safeguard confidentiality of study participants.
- Perform 100% real time data quality control (QC) of all study related activities, and retrospective systematic periodic quality assurance (QA) reviews of all study related activities for the same indicators used by the independent monitoring agency under contract to DAIDS, in coordination with study personnel.
- Maintain database to track the collection, submission, and cleaning of study data.
- Devise standardized tools to record QA/QC findings and oversee the peer review process.
- Ensure timely submission of data to the network’s statistical and data management center.
- Review data quality control reports for errors as well as periodic reports for delinquencies or unanswered queries or warnings with study personnel.
- Respond promptly to all data queries from the network’s statistical and data management center.
- In collaboration with other study personnel, develop and implement Quality Assurance/Clinical Quality Management Plan for all data collection, review and submission activities.
- Using the site’s Clinical Quality Management Plan, identify problem areas with data collection, report findings to the research team, and develop appropriate corrective measures.
- Ensure that all corrective measures are consistently implemented.
- Coordinate on-site external audit activities with the site coordinator and site leader.
- Attend study specific and other study related trainings and meetings as requested by the Site Coordinator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training and experience
Experience, Skills & Minimum Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in data collection, management and cleaning study data
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Experience, Skills & Preferred Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Management of Information Systems or related field
- Experience in research data collection involving human subjects, preferably with HIV/AIDS trials
- Experience in community-based research projects and data analysis
