Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The team is responsible for designing, building and operating our unified global datacenters; managing the demand planning and capacity utilization of our unified infrastructure; and responsible for all of the operations needed to run the physical infrastructure (including supply chain, hardware, power, security, and workflow teams). The DCD Team is responsible for delivering the data center capacity which requires significant coordination and communication with numerous partners.
PER Management (Project Expenditure Request)
- Draft and maintain the PER process including presenting this process to the DCS teams and training the stakeholders on the requirements, inputs and outputs
- Draft & maintain the PER Schedule in line with the long range build plan and the specific project schedules, to show when PERs will be approved
- Collaborate with the DCD E2E managers and the project teams to ensure that the PER schedules meet the needs of the project
- Draft the PER, making sure that the document captures the source of the decision and the information needed to back up the teams recommendations, and distribute to the stakeholders and present material
- Draft PER approval presentations for the MS capex Council & route PERs for approval
External Construction Audit
- Draft and maintain the process for the construction audits on the US construction projects
- Maintain the Construction audit program tracking the status of the 3 audits for each project
- Obtain proposals and POs for External auditors for each project including the management of the RFP if necessary
- manage the audit process on each project to include onboarding, ensuring a timely commencement and completion of each stage and hosting the audit report out meetings and manage the external audit vendors
- Track the program findings in an audit library to assist with future onboarding and projects lessons learned
DC Commitments
- Report and manage the setting and tracking of the DCD team program commitments including project construction costs, construction schedules, construction quality and safety.
- A project manager, finance person or business analyst with superb collaboration and communication skills.
- Analytical skills to understand the crux of the decision for each PER to allow the presentation to be drafted so that management fully understands this decision point and the available options
- An ability to understand the construction schedule at a high level and where the PER decision gates will be required
- Collaboration skills to work with numerous DCS teams to ensure that the relevant inputs are received in a timely fashion
Qualification Summary:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Construction Management or related
- 5 years work experience in a related field; construction, finance or analytics
- Expert in Microsoft Excel – power pivots, etc
- Experience working on business plans or feasibility studies
- A questioning, analytical mind
