POSITION OVERVIEW : Human Resources Assistant (Workers’ Compensation/Benefits) GS-0203 is assigned to the area of Employee Benefits, which includes Workers’ Compensation (WC), Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), Federal Employees Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Long Term Care (LTC), and Leave Administration. This position will be responsible for providing support services to Human Resources Specialist who has program responsibility for Workers’ Compensation, Employee Benefits, and/or Leave Administration. The incumbent will be responsible for benefit counseling, data reporting and program support administration. GS-0203-05 is the (Entry Level) of this position where the incumbent is mentored by the Human Resources Specialist and their work is closely monitored. GS-0203-06 is the (Developmental Level) where assignments given may initially be limited but will increase through to the full range of tasks. Supervisory control will vary from limited to quite general, depending upon the incumbent’s experience and progression. GS-0203-07 is the (Full Performance Level) of this position and the incumbent is generally self-directed and independently performs assistant and technician level work in support of a substantially diverse benefits program. Analyzes, plans and coordinates work, determines the appropriate process to follow through to resolution and resolves support problems that develop.


MAJOR DUTIES:
• Ensures timely completion, by employees and supervisors, and electronic submission of on-the-job incident/injury forms.

• Creates and maintains Workers Compensation claim folders in a pre-determined, organized manner.

• Progressively learns about the Workers Compensation program and provides information and assistance to claimants and supervisors concerning common questions and procedures.

• Provides basic consultation, guidance and assistance to current employees, former employees, annuitants, and eligible family members regarding life insurance, health benefits, dental and vision benefits, FSA, LTC benefits, TSP, and Leave Administration. Reviews and assists employees in the completion of benefit forms.

• Provides assistance to the HR Specialist (Workers Compensation/Benefits) as directed by him/her.

• All other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE : Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
