Role Description
Provide external literature services in support of regulatory and safety compliance within WRD (Worldwide Research & Development) and Medical. As a member of the Information & Library Services (I&LS) team in Business Technology deliver a broad range of information management services specializing in scientific and medical published information supporting the global Pfizer community. Services include online searching, eContent management, training, and administration of eLibrary tools. This role will be involved with adapting standardized information access and management service models across the organization and deploying new service models that increase the reach and effective use of information to advance I&LS services.
Responsibilities
Provides key information and makes specialized connections between information experts and business leaders to enable quality decision-making.
Administer, manage, implement and ensure the quality of literature surveillance pertinent to the pharmacovigilance of the Pfizer portfolio through the use of automated alerts and monitoring of the published journal literature for product safety information.
Support bibliographic services to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety reporting guidelines in regards to published literature. Includes:
Maintaining documentation in support of exisiting literature tools, assisting with training and troubleshooting; supporting all application enhancements, releases and upgrades; communicating changes to end users.
Partner with Information Scientists to maintain and update search strategies associated with bibliographic tools.
Share responsibility for maintaining productive relationships with R&D and WSRM Business Technology business partners and counterparts, end users, vendors, and senior leaders for services and solutions.
Participate in answering research and reference questions through published information search and retrieval along with analyzing results for relevancy and accuracy
Administer existing suite of bibliographic reporting tools for regulatory submissions and safety reporting and contribute to management of a product literature database
Enable effective use of tools through effective customer outreach and training
Participate in I&LS, BI (Business Insights), and business focused R&D or Medical technology projects
Adapt and support new information technologies such discovery search, mobile, and social tools
Qualifications
Degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline, preferably biological or biomedical related with 3+ years experience
Advanced degree, MS, in scientific discipline or library/information science with science undergraduate degree
Relevant experience information management, information sciences, or library science.
Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred.
Applicants must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and collaborations.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is a must. Experience working on virtual teams is preferred.
Technical Skills Requirements:
Applicants must have online search experience and in-depth knowledge of scientific and medical information resources
Solid technical knowledge of information tools and processes used to organize and present data, along with a firm understanding of how information is applied in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry.
Knowledge and experience in technologies used to share and reuse data.
Demonstrated ability to work in a SharePoint environment.
