Duties:
- The Operating Room Certified Nursing Assistant (OR CNA) is a member of the surgical team and provides assistance to the surgical team and other team members i n perioperative phases (pre-intra-post).
- The OR CNA participates with the surgical and nursing team members in planning and implementing complex procedures under the general supervision of the nursing team.
- The Operating Room is comprised of six general purpose rooms which can be utilized to accommodate all specialty services, two cystoscopy rooms, and an lnterventional Radiology room.
- The patient population consists of both male and female veterans ranging from adult to geriatric and includes both inpatients and outpatients .
- Common procedures performed by Operating Room staff include, but is not limited to Orthopedics, General Surgery,Vascular Surgery, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Podiatry.
- Duties are performed in the operating rooms with regular and recurring exposure to toxic and noxious gases such as: methylmethracrylate, glutaraldehyde, exposure to x-rays, andpure oxygen, exposure to blood and body fluids which are often infectious, and laser beams requiring special safety precautions.
