DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This position is located in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Executive Office (EO). The Finance & Administrative Assistant at this level usually reports to the Chief of Operation Support unit or to Operation Support officer.Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Finance & Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Finance:
• Supports and serves as backup to ASB Finance colleagues
• Assists in maintaining the OCHA Property Record and Inventory Reports for OCHA Assets
• Provides support to the finance officers/Operation support officers with gathering the financial & Administrative data for the Administrative Management System
Administrative:
• Performs general administrative tasks (e.g. leave and attendance recording, arrangements for meetings and other events, reservations, budget follow-up, etc.), to include preparing and/or processing administrative requests/documents (e.g. requisitions, purchase orders, travel requests, contracts, expenditure authorizations, visa applications, etc.).
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
Budget, Finance, Accounting, and Administrative Officers in the Secretariat and in the field.
Results Expected: Processes work and related follow-up in an efficient and timely manner. Seeks advice from supervisor, as applicable. Incumbent is expected to perform a variety of functions, e.g., assist with processing travel requests, assist the Operation support officer to consolidate the Procurement responses and monitor compliance related issues to ensure timely reporting by OCHA to the audit agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Experience:*****Four years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, administrative services or related area. Experience with the ERP system is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Passing the Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) in English at Headquarters, ECA, ESCWA, UNOG, UNOV, ICTR, or ICTY or the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Service category in the United Nations Secretariat.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Other Skills: Experience with IMIS or UMOJA is desirable.

Subject to the funding source of the position, this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station.
- While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post. An external candidate selected for this position is bound by the prevailing condition of the staff selection system under ST/AI/2010/3, as amended, and ST/AI/2010/4/Rev.1. A staff member holding a temporary appointment who is recruited in the Professional and above categories on a temporary appointment, and placed on a position authorized for one year or longer may not apply for or be reappointed to his/her current position within six months of the end of his/her current service. This provision does not apply to staff members holding temporary appointments and placed on positions authorized for one year or more in duty stations authorized for peacekeeping operations or special political missions. The expression "Internal candidates", shall mean staff members who have been recruited after a competitive examination under staff rule 4.16 or after the advice of a central review body under staff rule 4.15.
