IREX is actively seeking an Information Technology Manager for its Washington, DC office.
The person filling this role will be responsible for ensuring that IREX staff have an adequate, stable and secure information technology environment to enable them to perform their work effectively and in compliance with relevant laws and IREX’s policies and procedures. The IT Manager will oversee all staff and service providers supporting IREX’s IT operations in its DC Office, and will provide direction, standards and guidelines to ensure that IT operations in field offices are carried effectively.
Responsibilities:
IT Infrastructure:
- Ensures IREX has continuos access to adequate and secure hardware and data connectivity to enable employees to conduct their work effectively. This includes computers, printers, servers, switches, firewalls, printers, communications equipment, and A/V equipment, among others.
- Negotiates and manages relationships with communications (data & voice) service providers for IREX DC Office.
- Develops and updates hardware and network configuration standards for IREX DC office and field offices.
- Manages the performance of outsourced IT services such as help desk support, hardware maintenance, server room HVAC maintenance, etc.
- Provides direction and guidelines to field offices towards the setup and upgrade of their hardware and network configuration.
- Ensures security patches, OS updates, and backups are performed in a timely basis to better protest IREX data.
- Engages hosting, access monitoring, intrution protection and detection, and similar services to provide a safe infrastructure for IREX data and communications.
IT Applications:
- Ensures IREX employees have access to a suite of applications that will enable them to work efficiently and to share information in a safe and efficient way. This includes access to email, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications; as well as file storage and synchronization platforms (e.g. Google Drive, Box, MS One).
- Develops a standard framework for the development of applications, including: use of tools, development standards, integration standards, and database design, among others.
- In conjunction with initiative leaders and in some cases with external consultants, provides oversight to the development and implementation of custom software.
- Manages license and SaaS agreements related to software solutions used by IREX employees, ensuring that at all times we have adequate access and that we are in compliance with licensing and other lawful provisions.
IT Services:
- Ensures help desk services are provided to IREX employees on a timely and effective fashion.
- Leads the procurement process for IT equipment, software, supplies and services.
- Manages the deployment of new hardware and software to IREX employees at the DC Office.
- Manages the inventory of computer hardware in IREX’s DC Office.
- Develops and updates IREX policies, procedures and guidelines related to the use of information resources; ensuring these are used to manage, store and share IREX data safely, for authorized purposes, and in compliance with lawful requirements.
Other:
- Manages the work and responsibilities of IT staff both directly hired by IREX or through outsourcing agreements.
- Develops, monitors and updates IT budget.
- Assists in the development, update and implementation of IREX’s IT strategy.
- In coordination with other IREX employees, develops and updates IREX disaster recovery plan.
- Performs other IT related functions as assigned by supervisor.
****Qualifications and Experience:****
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related area.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience managing, maintaining, and implementing technology programs, computer system infrastructure and design, network operations, security design, application development and configurations, and system/server administration, in organizations with at least 100 employees.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience over a technical team.
- Excellent project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple projects, working collaboratively with other staff and departments to accomplish successful results on deadline and on budget.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent time management and strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to maintain high level of customer service and foster open communication channels.
- Experience in managing relationships with outsourced service providers.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required.
- Ability to work effectively across borders and cultures required.
- Proficiency with MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
