Description

Job Purpose


To ensure billing accuracy and handle all billing inquiries for both Vectren’s internal and external customers in a way that exceeds their expectations.


Main Accountabilities

Under direct supervision, review customer meter and billing exceptions and correct in Banner billing system while meeting billing and reporting deadlines. Initiate service orders to investigate and/or handle customer changes. Investigate zero consumption accounts by making external calls for meter and appliance access and update customer information in Banner.


Coordinate field investigations for switched meters, correct and communicate account balances to external customers and support operations by correcting entry errors and closing MDSI service orders. Process non-registering service orders, calculate and bill charges to customers. Process billing adjustments for fast meters and special test results and report results to Customer Relations. Process orders related to the Bare Steel/Cast Iron project.


Participate in the sales tax exemptions process and provide verbal and written communication to external and internal customers. Review and correct bills that are in the Proofing Manager, bill print exceptions and communicate anomalies to Banner Support. Bill diversion accounts and prepares relevant month end reports while providing support to Credit & Collections as needed. Report causes for billing errors to Billing Analyst for root cause spreadsheet (Billing Accuracy).


Consult with, or escalate to, the Team Lead any calls or issues which cannot be handled effectively. Achieve agreed upon individual and team performance goals. Represent Vectren in a professional manner at all times when interacting with both internal and external customers. Ensure all work is done to Vectren corporate standards.


Key Customers Include: Banner Support, Contact Center, Credit & Risk, Dispatch, Meter Reading, Operations.


Functional / Technical Competency Requirements


Required:


Proficiency in computer applications. Comfortable with a high level of personal accountability for quality and performance improvement. Excellent analytical and math skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently.


Qualifications

Academic Qualifications


Essential
:


High School diploma/GED.


Preferred:

College degree with potential to advance within the organization.


Work Experience


Essential:


Experience in a team-oriented environment.


Preferred:

Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Banner billing system (CIS).
