Reception Clerk job - City of New York - New York, NY





The City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (“OATH”) is an independent agency that conducts administrative hearings. OATH seeks to hire 1 part-time Reception Clerk to work in the Tribunal that conducts Livery, For Hire Vehicle and Taxi Hearings.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing reception assistance to litigants;

• Responding to inquiries and requests at the Reception Windows and via telephone;

• Responding to requests for case reschedules, copies of summonses and decisions;

• Entering final decisions into the agency’s database;

• Providing and mailing final decisions to the parties;

• Locating records using alphabetical and numerical procedures;

• Receiving, opening, sorting and distributing mail;

• Assisting in all aspects of processing cases efficiently.

Minimum Qual Requirements

Qualification Requirements

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.

The ideal candidate should be hard-working, ambitious, and excited by the opportunity to work in a complex environment undergoing a period of rapid organizational growth and institutional change. In addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements, the candidate should possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; excellent writing and strong organizational skills; and a strong facility with computers and computer applications.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
