This role is the “face” of the company and is responsible for the smooth operation of the boarding, grooming and daycare services.


JOB FUNCTIONS


  • Consistently present a uniform, friendly, sincere, intelligent and accommodating image.

  • Consistently create a positive and professional atmosphere that gains the trust of the clients and assists fellow staff members in performing their duties.

  • Smoothly handle frequent periods of high-volume incoming and outgoing traffic and phone calls.

  • Manage time well and stay calm and friendly under stress.

  • Identify animal behavior and make decisions on appropriate handling based on the mood and level of aggressiveness of the animal.

  • Safely handle small animals, birds and other exotics, cats and dogs ranging in size from 4 to 130 pounds.

  • Collect, label, organize and store guest’s belongings. Some items may weigh up to 50 pounds.

  • Answer single-line telephone and promptly return voicemail.

  • Be friendly, inviting and informative with all face to face and telephone interactions.

  • Consistently gather all necessary information at time of check-in to ensure proper feeding, medicating, grooming and other needs of every guest.

  • Enter client information into database, generate tickets and accept payment in the form of cash, credit card and check.

  • Convey all instructions to kennel and grooming staff in a clear and professional manner.

  • Do not directly address customer complaints, connect them with the business owners promptly.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Have competent skills in typing and navigating and handling of POS systems and databases. Maintain a professional appearance. Be able to clearly and confidently communicate with guests and staff. Able to handle all guests in a patient, friendly, accommodating and professional manner. Some guests may have limited English speaking ability, may be agitated or emotional. Stand and walk frequently, lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds), maintain control of large/strong dogs. Use bleach and other chemicals to clean animal urine, feces, blood and vomit. Must be a team player, self starter and work consistently without continued supervision and direction.


DOES NOT REQUIRE PRIOR ANIMAL EXPERIENCE. Training provided in identifying behavior signals, procedures for safely handling animals and accident/injury avoidance. Must be comfortable around dogs and other animals, able to learn quickly, adhere to strict company policies, accept and follow direction from supervisors.


Hours are 12 noon to 6 pm Monday, 8 am to 6 pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and 8 am to 12 noon on Saturdays. Requires occasional increase in hours to cover owner absence on other days of the week. Requires working over major holidays, typically with reduced hours.


Job Type: Full-time


Salary: $15.00 /hour
