The Parking Meter Collectors are responsible for the collection, securing, transporting, device inspection, and depositing of coins used for the payment of on-street parking stations.
Job Responsibilities:
Make collections and deposits of coin from the parking pay stations.
Drive and collect monies in accordance with a mapped route.
Secure all funds and perform special collections and audits as requested.
Inspect payment devices and report any issues discovered.
Answers questions from the public regarding meters, directions and other matters.
Keeps records and prepare reports on damaged pay stations or irregularities, such as unusually low yields.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance on collection cans and other equipment.
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to read maps and follow directions.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
Must be able to drive collection van in all types of weather.
Collect and carry a collection can cart which generally weighs around 25 pounds, up and down hills.
Ability to walk continuously for prolonged periods of time. Desired Qualifications/Skills:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience driving a route for collection or delivery.
Prior experience using a commercial coin sorter (such as the Jetsort 3000-6000).
Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Two or more years working in a customer service position dealing directly with the public.
Knowledge of City of Seattle neighborhood street layouts.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to use tact, discretion and courtesy in dealing with the public and responding to upset individuals.
Highly responsible with regard to adherence to schedules, routes and timelines.

License, Certification and Other Requirements :
Current Washington State driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one by the time of hire is required.
Training and certification in first aid and CPR techniques is required within six months of employment. This position requires the successful passing of a criminal background check investigation and a pre-employment physical.
