( Motor Vehicle Customer Service Office Manager I)

Position Summary: The Administrative Service Officer 1 will provide direct management over a small MVD Field Office, and to provide direct supervision of MVD Customer Service Representative Leads, MVD Customer Service Representatives, and MVD Customer Service Associates assigned to various statewide MVD Customer Service offices. These positions provide various services including driver license service, title and registration service, authorized presence and fraudulent document identification, dealer services, level 1 vehicle inspections, ignition interlock administration, voter registration, organ donor registration, and Selective Service registration.


Building/office responsibilities include physical security, facility maintenance, janitorial service performance monitoring and

contract compliance, and Risk Management and Enforcement incident reporting.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Knowledge of:


  • Basic management functions; controlling, directing, organizing, planning, staffing

  • MVD offices(s) budget, revenue and expenditures

  • Division and program goals and objectives

  • Personnel management, public relations, and motivational principles, processes and practices

  • Foreign applicants for DL & ID credentials

Skills in:

  • Oral and written communication

  • Customer and public relations and conflict resolution

  • Personnel management and development skills

  • Personal computers, including Microsoft word and excel

Ability to:

  • Resolve daily, intermediate and long term operational and customer service issues

  • Accurately apply statutes, policies and procedures

  • Create and coordinate work schedules, adjusting resources as necessary, and coordinate training activities

  • Recommend and administer disciplinary actions

  • Create and execute action plans to address office performance gaps

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fours years experience in Arizona State Services as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative.

  • Two or more years experience in a high visibility public contact setting in a regulatory or public service environment will substitute for two years of Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.

Candidates for this position must complete page 7 and sign the Driver Form on page 8 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate’s motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent 39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (I). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.


RETIREMENT: This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)*.


  • ASRS enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time of hire.
