Performs a variety of technical tasks in the collection, processing and issuance of motor vehicle, vessel and mobile home registration and titles. Work is performed with a wide latitude of judgment in accordance with statutes, laws, policies, procedures and ordinances under general supervision of a manager and higher-level administrative officials.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides direct assistance to the public by mail or over the telephone in the issuance of license plates, titles and collection of sales taxes. Also provides direct assistance to dealers in person, by mail, or over the telephone in similarly related transactions.
Collects and validates payment for said transactions as well as maintaining and balancing a cash drawer.
Processes applications for tag, title, registration transfers/renewals, personalized plates and stolen/lost plates for cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, motorcycles, motor homes and mobile homes which may require the review of certain documents, appropriate signatures for accuracy and/or research through FRVIS or NMVTIS system for completeness.
Processes dealership and companies with a large fleet of vehicles; Inspects work for accuracy; identify and advise personnel to correct any discrepancies for transaction processing.
Audit all transactions determining if they are in accordance with Department of Motor Vehicle procedures, State statutes and appropriate codes and contain needed signatures and/or notarization.
Performs all other duties as required.
Compensation:
Full Time position.
Starting at $15.00 per hour plus benefits. Higher for experienced clerks.
Evenings and limited Saturday hours may be required.
Strong Candidates will have the following skills:
- Typing at 35 wpm
- Must maintain a current valid Florida Driver License
- Must be eligible to work in Florida
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with internal staff, the general public and other government agencies in order to give and receive information in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner.
- Rapidly acquiring knowledge of administrative and operational matters and working with limited supervision on routine and non-routine office support tasks.
- Making calculations involving business mathematics
- Effective listening skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Candidates may have the following skills (Not required):
- Fluent in Spanish
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in a Tax Collector Office
- Experience at a Car Dealership
- Associates of Arts or Science Degree from accredited college or university
- 1 Year of Cash Handling
- 2 Years of Customer Service experience
