Animal Control Dispatcher - City of Lincoln & Lancaster County - Lincoln, NE





Hours: Full time, Wednesday – Friday, 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

This position is within the Animal Control Division and will be responsible for dispatching Animal Control Officers during assigned times arranged by the Office Manager. The person in this position should have strong customer service skills. They should also be able to work, independently and make decisions consistent with their assigned responsibilities. Desired skills: dealing with difficult people, entering and maintaining information on the computer dispatch system and in the general files. Work involves responsibility for dispatching calls, responding to telephone calls from the public and to walk in public. Previous experience working with the general public and interacting on a regular basis with customers and complaints is desired. The job will involve dispatching Animal Control Officers to a variety of calls including: bites, attacks, neglect, dogs at large, strays, noise, sanitation, wildlife and injured/dead animals. Individuals will be in the building alone some hours with minimum supervision available. Individual must be a self-starter and highly motivated. Prior dispatching experience desired. Bilingual skills are a plus.


Qualifications : High school graduate or equivalent and 6 months – 2 years experience in an office setting, or equivalent.
