Salary: $38,334.00 – 44,782.00 /Yearly*

Summary of Job Duties:
Under the supervision of the area Biologist, assist in conducting surveys, investigations and developments to enhance wildlife. Maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment. Provide information and assistance to sportsmen on assigned areas. Periodically inspect and coordinate work of contractors on assigned areas. Maintain complete and accurate daily records and prepare required reports. Assist in management of more than one wildlife area with multi-management objectives. May be required to be certified as a Reserve Game Warden and perform law enforcement duties a small percentage of time. May participate in the inter-divisional training program to better assist with other division projects.
Must have the ability to:
• Operate boats, motor vehicles, lawn mowers, tractors, and ATVs with various attachments; including but not limited to dump trucks, winch trucks, and flat bed trucks.
• Operate and use firearms, rifles, shotguns, and handguns, cutting torch and welding equipment
• Lift, carry, and use fencing materials, lumber, building material, hand tools, chain saw, and fire suppressing equipment.
• Lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds for a distance of 100 yards
• Walk and jog over rough terrain for extended periods and swim.
• Work alone in remote areas
• Endure various extremes of outdoor weather conditions
• Work extended hours weekends and stay overnight out of town.
• Handle wild animals in live and dead condition, including field dressing wild game
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others as well as work independently
Requirements:
Education: Minimum of two (2) years college training in wildlife management or closely related field. Four (4) years’ experience in a wildlife conservation technician position may substitute for education requirements
Must attach a copy of transcript or documents showing two (2) years college training in wildlife management or closely related field.
Experience: 1 year related experience. A total of five (5) years’ experience is required in lieu of education requirement above. A completed Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management or related field may substitute for the experience requirement.
Must acquire a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one (1) year of appointment to position.
Knowledge and Skills :
• Thorough knowledge of capabilities and use of medium to heavy contractual farming equipment.
• Knowledge and competence in use of small hand tools and carpentry tools
• Knowledge of techniques used in wildlife surveys and inventories and all aspects of agriculture practices.
• Skill in exercising good judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions
• Be proficient in use of computers and various software applications.
