United Airlines – temporary contract position (Admin / Tech Writer role) – downtown Chicago (Willis Tower)


United Airlines is looking to bring on a recent college graduate looking to get their foot in the door within the aviation industry. This is an administrative role that offers training. This position will lightly touch into the Technical Writing field which will also include training.


Duties:
Designs and writes complex technical/non-technical manuals in compliance with corporate standards for content, format, accuracy, style, division and quality.


  • Using standard document types and style sheet standards, the Technical Writer will create, maintain and publish United operating and business manuals.

  • Partner with divisional Manual Owners to update text, including developing, writing, editing, rewriting, formatting and/or web publishing of technical and non-technical documentation.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures with regards to layout, production, publications and distributions as per the Documentation Standards Manual (DSM) and other corporate guidelines.

  • Maintain historical archives of all processed documents.

  • Subject to critical publication deadlines and must be capable of handling heavy workloads.

Project and administrative duties including, but not limited to:


  • Coordinate workloads and projects to assure timely and accurate completion.

  • Using, populating and maintaining auditable checklists by manual type.

  • Loading content manually into system (e.g. checklists, compliance standards, workflows)

  • Follow United Publications Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines

  • Provide excellent customer support to internal and external customers (e.g Manual Owners, Regulators, Contractors, end users) to support manual publications process

  • Coordinate and monitor workloads and projects to assure timely and accurate completion with Manual Owners.

  • Ensure both United Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration Manuals and Documents regulations are met and maintained to avoid aircraft delays, increased costs and improper maintenance.

  • Works as team member to ensure project work is moving along on time. Individual goals based on project workload and performance metrics.”

Bachelor’s degree required or 3 -5 years of relevant work experience


Salary: $20.00 /hour
