Reports To: Dean, Division of Arts and Sciences


Principal Responsibilities:


1. Assists in the advisement of students or public served with respect to scheduling, test information, academic status, student appeals and other related college policies.

2. Organizes and coordinates administrative workflow including supervisory support for major projects, routine operations, publicity and promotion activities and other related assignments.

3. Maintains comprehensive personnel files for faculty and other staff.

4. Furnishes the division department with services necessary to assure its efficient operation.

5. Responsible for the training and staff development of support personnel.

6. Collects, researches and organizes materials to assist the division/department.

7. Assists in the preparation of division/department reports.

8. Provides secretarial assistance to senior division/department personnel.

9. Attends divisional/department and other campus meetings as directed.

10. Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.


Minimum Qualifications:


• High school diploma or equivalent; Business/Secretarial certificate or Associate degree preferred

• Computer literate in Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of PowerPoint a plus

• Ability to work with diverse groups

• Possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

• Familiar with Budget procedures/processing

• Knowledge of MCC’s institutional and academic procedures preferred

• Three to five years full-time experience in a busy office setting

• Previous work experience in an academic area/college/school setting preferred


Supplemental Information:


Schedule: Monday – Friday

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Retirement Plan: P.E.R.S.


Any new employee hired by Middlesex County College after September 1, 2011 must comply with New Jersey residency requirements.
