Social Impact (SI) is a Washington, DC-area international development management consulting firm. SI’s mission is to improve the effectiveness of international development programs in improving people’s lives. We provide a full range of management consulting, technical assistance, and training services to strengthen international development programs, organizations , and policies. We provide services globally in the areas of monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, project and program design, organizational capacity building , and gender and social analysis. SI services cross-cut all development sectors including democracy and governance, health and education, the environment, and economic growth. SI’s clients include US government agencies such as USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the US Department of State , bilateral donors , multilateral development banks , foundations , and non-profits.


Objective:


SI is committed to enriching student’s abilities to get broad exposure to international development consulting and deepen their international development management skills. We offer semester-long (summer, fall, spring) internships to current undergraduate and graduate students on our Business Development Team. Business Development Interns support multiple USAID, Dept. of State, DFID and MCC proposal development efforts, gaining experience in recruitment, proposal management and writing, and a thorough understanding of development contracting mechanisms.


Position Description:


SI is seeking an intern to support our hard-working (and fun!) Business Development Recruitment Team at SI headquarters in Arlington, VA. The internship will last approximately three months, with the possibility for extension based on performance, how well the candidate works with the team, and the needs of the Recruitment Team.


Responsibilities:


  • Conduct proposal and project recruitment tasks including: arranging interviews, corresponding with candidates, and conducting reference checks.

  • Assist in expanding SI’s outreach to quality candidates worldwide.

  • Research advertising websites and listservs related to international development and technical fields related to SI’s work.

  • Work with the Recruitment Manager to improve recruitment-related templates, and manuals.

  • Format, write, and edit CVs and draft bio sketches for personnel.

  • Respond to general inquiries about SI and recruitment.

  • Review for quality control and post position descriptions on internal and external websites.

  • Manage and update recruitment database/Applicant Tracking System.

  • Provide additional support to the Recruitment Team as needed.

Qualifications:


  • Professional demeanor and diplomatic communication skills, especially via email.

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment.

  • Excellent writing/editing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software programs quickly.

  • Fluency in a second language is preferred.

  • Interest in international development, business development and/or recruitment.
