A Mortgage and Secured Loans Underwriter is required by a banking organisation to assist their transition into the mortgage & secured loans market.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mortgage or secured loan underwriter to join a leading banking organisation at an exciting time.
Main Duties:
- Assessment and approval of mortgage and secured loan applications received from brokers and the branch network within underwriting policy and individual lending mandate.
- Ensure that the principles of MCOB, MMR and CCA/CONC are adhered to, in full, throughout the processing of the application
- Accurately assess the risk attributed to the application ensuring that the loan is both affordable and sustainable.
- Understand and assess credit reports, documentation relating to verification of employment/self employment and valuation reports
- Have the confidence to approve/reject applications in line with policy and to communicate your decision to interested parties.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers alike.
- Accurately capture data via origination systems to ensure that mortgage offer documentation is error free.
- Following completion, register the company’s charge with HM Land Registry in a timely fashion.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years recent secured loans underwriting experience to include holding a lending mandate.
- Hands-on experience of loan processing systems.
- Knowledge of regulation as it affects secured loans and proven ability to implement those principles throughout the underwriting process.
- Excellent communication skills
- Interpersonal skills – positive communication.
- Self management – initiative, flexibility, management of change
- Good standard of education
