As a Mission Support Assistant, you will provide substantive clerical support in one or more of the administrative support areas (e.g., finance and budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, records and files management, etc.). Duties include:


  • Performing office automation work and using computer software, e.g., spreadsheets, databases, and graphics, to produce, store and retrieve a variety of documents;

  • Monitoring, coordinating and maintaining a variety of office files and records;

  • Extracting, compiling and manipulating data to determine if trends or patterns exist;

  • Compiling a variety of reports;

  • Coordinating requests for services from users and completing necessary forms;

  • Procuring routine equipment and services; and

  • Maintaining tracking systems of transactions.

You qualify for the GS-07 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-06 level performing duties such as:

  • Coordinating administrative requirements with offices served;

  • Maintaining contact with offices having primary responsibility for administrative programs and obtaining most up-to-date information on procedural requirements;

  • Providing procedural assistance on routine administrative matters;

  • Maintaining databases and identifying trends or patterns; and

  • Compiling a variety of reports.


National Service Experience (i.e. volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


Typing Proficiency: In addition to the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample, with three or fewer errors. You may self-certify your proficiency in the Occupational Questionnaire.

Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
