POSITION OVERVIEW
- Job Summary:
- Performs front office activities including answering of telephones, patient registration, creating patient charts, call all rehab initial evaluation patient, and scheduling. Directs office activities of rehab technicians, volunteers and students. Assist with other secretarial duties as needed including mailing information to physicians, chart review, performs management of loaned equipment to support the Director and rehab staff and filing.

- Responsible for a variety of front office activities including answering department phones, faxing, filing and creating patient charts.
- Provides reminder call to all patients prior to initial rehab visit. This includes providing patient with appointment time and instructions to bring required information i.e. photo ID, prescription/referral, and insurance card and any paperwork received in the mail.
- Performs patient check-in including: attending patient in computer system, assisting patient to complete all necessary paperwork and immediately notifying therapist when patient is ready.
- Performs outpatient scheduling for initial and follow-up appointments including physical, occupational, speech therapy patients and monthly exercise patients
- Performs patient registration and re-registration verifying and updating all patient and insurance information at initial visit and each month thereafter. Registration responsibilities include support for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and bone densitometry.
- Responsible for initial prescription review to ensure all necessary information is completed and immediately contacting physician’s office to obtain new order when a patient arrives without proper paperwork or to clarify an order.
- Manages patient payments and cash drawer.
- Responsible to retrieve, view and print patient medical documents from medical records archiving system

REQUIREMENTS
- Education:
- High School degree preferred
- Experience:
- One year in related field preferred
- Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- General computer knowledge and general word processing and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to learn simple medical terminology.
- Ability to teach basic office duties to technicians, students and volunteers.
- Ability to carry out instructions (verbal and written).
- Ability to communicate in a professional setting, in person, and on the telephone.
- Ability to interpret feedback from patients in all age groups.
- Preferred Requirements:
- General working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- General knowledge of medical terminology
- General inherent organizational skills.
