Purpose of Position: The Communications Officer will create, maintain, and update external communication and print materials for the all of the programs managed by the Academic and Experiential Learning (AEL) division including websites, monthly newsletters, publications, social media, and special reports for sponsors. Work is carried out independently under general supervision. The largest program that AEL manages is the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP) which offers students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields the opportunity to pursue study abroad in one-year academic programs. IIE administers grants for over 5,000 BSMP students each year. Work is carried out independently under general supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
•Design all program materials for meetings, webinars and conferences maintaining IIE’s brand (including posters, brochures, booklets, handouts, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) •Develop, manage, and create the Boletim Mensal, a monthly newsletter for all U.S. based BSMP students. •Maintain, update, and design content for the division’s programs’ websites using Sitecore CMS. •Post updates on the BSMP Facebook page and twitter account. •Assist IIE’s Communications Team with projects and special assignments. •Using data from CRM and surveys produce statistical handouts with custom charts and graphs for the division and for program sponsors. •Liaise with external printing company for all print projects to communicate content, layout, format, design. Ensure print projects stay within designated budget. •Curate, edit, and catalogue program’s photograph library. •Review pertinent emails from the media monitoring service on a daily basis. •Design, streamline, and standardize all divisional forms and documents. •Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures. •Performs other related duties and functions as assigned.
Job Requirements Education/Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related work experience, communications and/or marketing preferred. •Experience and/or interest in working in international education or exchange programs is preferred. •Experience with SiteCore, Prezi, and GoToWebinar is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong communication skills specifically strong writing skills and proven editing skills. •Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Access, PowerPoint & Publisher. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. •Knowledge of social media marketing and Google Analytics. •Ability to edit copy/photos/videos. •Strong statistics analysis skills. •Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects at one time. •Initiative to develop new projects.
