Chemonics seeks a project assistant to provide administrative and logistical support to the senior management and technical team of the USAID Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET). The senior management team is composed of the chief of party, deputy chief of party, and the decision support advisor. The assistant will ensure that FEWS NET"s Washington, D.C., front office is well-managed and that all project deliverables are completed and distributed in a timely manner. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage correspondence and communication for senior management and oversee filing of key FEWS NET documents in both electronic and hard copy format
- Prepare pre-travel-related processes for senior management, including travel requests, visa applications, travel advances, and logistical arrangements
- Schedule and maintain senior management meeting calendar and organize relevant documentation in advance of meetings
- Support chief of party correspondence with field- and home-office technical staff and the home-office project management unit
- Maintain key administrative trackers for the project, including vacation schedules, performance evaluations, staff development, and home-office and field staff travel for security purposes
- Coordinate FEWS NET weekly and monthly internal meetings, including compiling the agenda, organizing meeting rooms, taking minutes, and maintaining meeting reports
- Coordinate logistical and administrative needs (e.g., ordering project supplies)
- Serve as the primary liaison with Chemonics" support divisions, particularly IT and Office Services
Qualifications:
- Bachelor"s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum one year of relevant work experience
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
- Proficient in Windows systems and Office 2003 to 2013 suites, including Excel, and strong interest in improving computer skills
- Proven ability to consistently perform in a professional manner and work comfortably with senior technical and professional staff
- Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail; well-organized to meet many and multiple deadlines
- Experience living and working in a developing country preferred
- Experience in a similar position with an international development firm preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Proficiency in French or Spanish preferred
