Denver Mayor's Office of Special Events Internship - Unpaid - The City and County of Denver - Denver, CO

The Denver Mayor’s Office of Special Events seeks unpaid, part-time or full-time Interns for the fall and winter semesters. We are looking for 2 dynamic interns who are interested in the special event industry and are able to jump into a very busy office to assist not only in the daily operations necessary, but to assist with managing the 1200 events in the CCD. These interns will contribute to the vision and formation of this team, as we make history and stand up the new Office of Special Events.

Job Responsibilities


Interns will:


  • Assist with follow-up and management of event organizers and city departments

  • Assist with tracking event details, all city check lists, ongoing work processes, and post event feedback

  • Work with the city departments to help develop informational FAQ sheets for event organizers

  • Work on site at an event with city departments and event organizers as the “day-of event” life cycle unfolds

  • Assist with data input and event calendar updates

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of an annual forum and event guide

Qualifications


All candidates will be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Ideally, they will have an interest in Event Planning and/or Filming.


Required Skills:


  • High level of organizational skills

  • Ability to manage several projects at once

  • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both verbally and written

  • Some special event experience /film experience (this can be very basic like classes/working towards a degree)

  • Work well with deadlines and under pressure

  • Strong customer service skills and a great attitude!!

Ideal Candidates:

  • Students who are enrolled in an event planning or hospitality program.

Additional Information


Schedule: A minimum commitment of at least sixteen hours per week that includes a consistent work schedule. Schedule is flexible to accommodate classes and/or work. Occasional weekends may be required.


Compensation: Unpaid


Upon request, we will work with your college/university to accommodate the requirements of your school’s internship program.


Background Check/Drug Testing: Candidates must pass a criminal background check up to 10 year employment verification and education verification. Additional checks such as physical and drug testing may be required.
