Temporary Passenger Information Agent - Port Authority of NY & NJ - New York, NY

Responsibilities

Temporary Passenger Information Agents play a highly visible front-line customer service role at PATH terminals and stations. TPIA’s answer customer questions and provide information about PATH service routes, station locations, and fares. They also check customer communications equipment and report malfunctions.


PATH is a 24 hour, 7 days-a-week operation and Temporary Passenger Information Agents will be required to work rotating shifts (am, pm, midnights, weekends, holidays and overtime if necessary).


Qualifications


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must possess the following qualifications in order to be considered:


-High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

-Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a customer service role, working in a demanding environment that requires significant interaction with the public

-The ability to work rotating shifts (am, pm, midnight, weekends and holidays).


Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam. The Passenger Information Agent written exam is designed to measure a candidate’s knowledge in areas such as: Applying Information – The ability to understand and utilize information provided in maps, tables and in writing to respond to specific customer questions; Numeric Facility – The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly; and Written Communication – The ability use correct English grammar, wording and punctuation to clearly and accurately communicate a specific situation in a report.


Successful candidates who qualify on the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral interview designed to measure the candidate’s work experience, skills and abilities in areas such as: Situational Judgment; Problem Sensitivity; Customer Service; Interpersonal Relations; and Oral Communication.


Only candidates who qualify on both the written exam and oral interview will be eligible for further consideration and will be subject to a comprehensive background check.


Compensation & Benefits


The successful candidate will enjoy a starting salary of $17.89 hourly (subject to collective bargaining agreement).
